Malignant mesothelioma is the most serious of all asbestos-related diseases.

Malignant mesothelioma is the most serious of all asbestos-related diseases. Although uncommon, mesothelioma is no longer considered rare. A malignant (cancerous) tumour of the mesothelium is called a malignant mesothelioma. As most mesothelial tumours are cancerous, malignant mesothelioma is often simply called mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma cancer is an aggressive malignancy that spreads over time. The disease attacks vital organs protected by the mesothelium membrane. Simply put, mesothelioma which is commonly referred to as asbestos cancer, is an aggressive cancer caused primarily by the inhalation of dangerous asbestos fibres Mesothelioma can affect any of these cells, but is usually seen in the pleural or peritoneal mesothelium.

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer affecting the abdominal cavity, chest cavity, and the region surrounding the heart. Individuals with a history of extended asbestos exposure are at the highest risk for developing malignant mesothelioma. Even a small exposure to this cancer-causing material can result in malignant mesothelioma. However, mesothelioma has a latency of up to thirty-forty years.

Mesothelioma is a rare cancer that can be difficult to diagnose.

Mesothelioma or Asbestos Cancer is a dreaded disease that is nearly always caused by just one factor: exposure to asbestos. In many cases of mesothelioma, asbestos exposure occurred in the workplace. Mesothelioma is a rare cancer that can be difficult to diagnose. Several diseases can cause symptoms similar to mesothelioma. Malignant mesothelioma is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the lining of the chest or abdomen. Being exposed to asbestos can affect the risk of developing malignant mesothelioma. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between malignant mesothelioma and lung cancer.

While considered a rare cancer, mesothelioma is not rare among individuals exposed to asbestos. The great tragedy of mesothelioma is that it was preventable. Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer (malignancy) that most frequently arises from the cells lining the sacs of the chest (the pleura) or the abdomen. Peritoneal mesothelioma is much less common. This can effect the organs in the abdomen, and its symptoms are related to this area of the body.

Mesothelioma, a deadly cancer that attacks the lining of the lungs, heart, or abdomen.

Exposure to asbestos has proven to result in a wide range of health conditions, including mesothelioma, a deadly cancer that attacks the lining of the lungs, heart, or abdomen. In addition to mesothelioma, Navy veterans account for 16 percent of asbestos-related lung cancer. For many decades asbestos exposure has been known to cause asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma cancer.

Pleural mesothelioma or cancer of the lung lining is the most common form of mesothelioma cancer. The only recognized cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos, though other factors such as smoking can make the disease more or less likely in some individuals. A diagnosis of cancer can be scary and confusing. You may want to learn about the stages of mesothelioma and how doctors can tell when a person has this type of cancer.
